In case you missed the meeting or you need a reference to the material - here you should find everything you need! Here is what you missed in a nutshell:
There is a neon green packet that your student MAY have brought home today if you weren't in the meeting. It has the following information:

*CAPS WORDS = DOCUMENT OR LINK ATTACHED. CLICK ON IT FOR THE INFORMATION*
- COVER PAGE
- OFFICIAL/SPECIFIC CALENDARS: JANUARY, FEBRUARY, MARCH and IMPORTANT DATES AT A GLANCE
- Your own copy of THE CAST MEMBER AGREEMENT that was signed previous to auditioning. This is just for your records. We specifically reviewed:
- Grades (#2) We reviewed that grades will be turned every few weeks. No "F" grades are allowed. Academics are priority. The play is extra curricular. Please help your student to keep up with their grades. Perhaps this will motivate some to work even harder!
- Missing rehearsals (#3) Please read and review the policies. We HAVE to remain strict to maintain order and organization. The more effective we are the better the production!
- Fundraising
- We discussed how as a new school we have no stock and no budget. We are also only allowed 1 fundraiser and we can't sell tickets to the show. Money is a problem and we need to all pull together to work around the barriers and make this production great by all contributing. Some of the specific ideas for fundraising are: GETTING SPONSORS. Businesses donate money (tax deductible!) in exchange for a place in our program. Also, you could donate by placing a FAN MAIL in our program. This is a small note of encouragement and love to your child that is printed in the program. We also plan to do concessions, ask for donations in exchange for tickets and possibly do a silent auction. I am open to other ideas you may have as well!
- HOW YOU CAN HELP FORM. There are so many ways to help and this year we need everyone's time, talents and ideas to bring this together. Please print this form and circle the ways you are willing to help. You can circle one or all. I just need to know how you are interested in helping.
Other things covered at the meeting:
- Communication: I will be using an app called Remind 101 to communicate with parents and students. It is a completely confidential one-way text messaging system. I can send you a quick mass text about a rehearsal change, a help need or a reminder about an upcoming deadline. Parents have really like this method for quick communication for simple things. To sign up text the number 801-528-6494 and in the body of the text type @7c2b4 and you will be added to the list.
- We have 2 google docs to help collaborate on the projects we are undergoing and the help that is needed. The first is THE PARENT HELP DOCUMENT This is a google doc with prop needs, costume coordination and set piece needs. You can add your name to anything that you feel you can help with or even just add your idea. Each child is in charge of getting their own costume, but if you have something someone else can use - add it to the document! I shared it with all of the emails that I received from the original audition form, however, if you need it shared with another email - just request it and I can add you to it. The second document is the VISUAL DOC where myself and others can post pictures of things they have or find.
- Finally if you need to contact me for any questions, ideas or ways you can help email is the best! sarina.armstrong@jordandistrict.org If you call the school phone I rarely get it and the voicemail is a joke. It is hard to access. Email is 100% the best!
Whew! It is hard to sum it all up but these are the basics.
Oh! And we definitely talked about how excited we are to do this, how much we need help to make it happen, and how grateful we are for amazing parents who are willing to support their children in productions like this. We are so passionate about art changing lives. I have seen it again and again. Being a part of a production like this builds friendships, boosts character and grows confidence like nothing else I have seen! Thanks for being a part of it!
